Accessibility for Visitors with Disabilities
The Buffalo Bill Historical Center welcomes all visitors and affirms
its commitment to making its programs and services accessible
to everyone. (Because Absarokee
Hut and the Boyhood Home are historic structures, their architectural features create
somewhat limited accessibility for visitors with mobility
impairments.)
Free and ample parking for disabled visitors is
available directly outside the entrance of the Historical Center.
Located adjacent to Visitor Rest Areas, all of the Historical Center
restrooms are ADA compliant. Locations are noted on the Floor Plan
- available as a printed brochure at the Information Desk.
For Visitors Who Are Deaf or Have Hearing Impairments
The audio programs in the Plains Indian Museum have closed captioning.
For Visitors with Mobility Impairments
All of the Center's galleries, as well as all special exhibitions,
dining facilities, and the museum's retail shop, are fully
accessible to visitors with mobility impairments.
All of the Center's public galleries are accessible
to wheelchair users and other visitors who need to avoid stairs. Wheelchairs
are available inside the front entrance, and do not need to be reserved
in advance.
Visitors with disabilities who are interested in photographing the collections should contact Public Relations prior to their visit.
Elevators are located throughout the building. View the Center's
Floor Plan - available as a printed brochure at the Information
Desk - for the most convenient routes. Because Absarokee
Hut and the Boyhood Home are historic structures, their architectural features create
somewhat limited accessibility for visitors with mobility
impairments.
For Visitors Who Are Blind Or Have Visual Impairments
A Touch Collection of objects from the different collections
is available at the Center by appointment for individuals
and small groups. Please contact Gretchen
Henrich, Family Programs Coordinator, or call her at 307/578-4061.
Please provide as much advance notice as possible, preferably
two weeks. |
