Maryanne Andrus joined the Buffalo Bill Historical Center as The Brown Foundation, Inc. of Houston Director of Education in June 2002. Mrs. Andrus came from Dearborn, Michigan where she served as curator of research at the Dearborn Historical Museum.

Prior to that, Mrs. Andrus was affiliated with The Homeplace – 1850 Living History Farm Museum in Golden Pond, Kentucky. For the first four years, she was domestic arts lead interpreter, followed by a six-year stint as director. While in Kentucky, she headed a new interpretive approach to educational programming that described humans in the environment as a dynamic force in natural history.

Mrs. Andrus has also held the position of consulting folklorist for the Arts Council for Chautauqua County in Jamestown, New York. She has also served as assistant reference librarian at the Scholes Ceramic Library at Alfred University in Alfred, New York, and at the Herrick University Library in Alfred. While working towards her master's degree at Utah State University, Mrs. Andrus held the position of women's staff coordinator and assistant archivist at the Fife Folklore Archive.

Mrs. Andrus has spoken widely on folklore, living history, period clothing, and women's historical issues. At Utah State University, she earned a bachelor's degree in American history and master's degree in American studies, with dual emphasis in museum studies and folklore.
