John Gallagher graduated from the Colorado College in 1984 with a B. A. in geology. In 1988, Mr. Gallagher graduated from Dartmouth College with a M.S. in computers and information systems. From 1988 through 1993, he worked for Manufacturers Hanover/Chemical Bank as a senior technology officer. He joined the Buffalo Bill Historical Center staff in 1996, first as a consultant and then as the Information Technology Coordinator.

Mr. Gallagher is currently working to implement the Buffalo Bill Historical Center's i-Scout program - a first of its kind wireless technology using hand-held computers and beacons. Visitors are able to use the hand-held computers to see and hear additional information about Historical Center collection objects they are viewing, download that information to a Web site, and access the page upon their return home.
