Donations
Thank you to all supporters of the McCracken
Research Library! With your help and encouragement we have grown
from a small museum support library to a full-fledged research library
with our own collections and exhibits. Without our patrons and donors,
this would not have been possible.
The McCracken Research Library continues to grow
and develop. Acquisitions of publications, manuscripts and archives,
and photographs are often the result of direct donations or purchases
with money donated to our materials acquisitions fund. The
Belden Photographic Fund, named for Meeteetse photographer/rancher
Charles Belden, supports photographic exhibitions and acquisitions.
Our collections are housed in modern climate-controlled
vaults, on site, to allow both convenience of access and secure
preservation. Some intensive conservation repairs, however, are
needed as materials age and become increasingly fragile and vulnerable.
We have, therefore, also set up a conservation fund to accept
donations to permit conservation treatment. We also have donation
opportunities for helping the library to make equipment purchases to support materials cataloging and processing needs. Those
wishing to provide monetary support to the library are encouraged
to contact our Development
Department directly.
Housel Curator Kurt Graham oversee the donations of books, journals, personal papers,
business records, photographs and other research materials. We appreciate prospective donors send us a letter describing their
gifts prior to shipping them. Prior notification helps us confirm
that we do not have duplicates of these materials and begin a dialogue
with a prospective donor.
Those wishing to donate their time may consider
volunteering within the library and archives. The continuous need
for materials cataloguing and processing, reshelving, and other
tasks, creates many interesting volunteer projects. The library's
level of services is largely dependent on the contribution of its
volunteers. Volunteers are coordinated through the BBHC
Education Department. |
