Smith firearms, and we are pleased to offer this information from our archives for firearms enthusiasts who make membership contributions of $150 or more, in addition to the basic benefits that all members enjoy.

A factory letter is an offical report on the information contained in the original company records which the Historical Center holds. Letters are on official letterhead and bear the seal of the Cody Firearms Museum at the Buffalo Bill Historical Center. A factory letter can be an important tool in establishing the provenance and originality of a gun. Factory letters generally take three weeks to process.
Factory letter benefits start at the $250 giving circle or can be purchased separately in letter packages.

A serial number search contains the same information as a factory letter and is sent via e-mail, fax, or by phone. Members are asked to limit search requests to five per day. Results are generally returned within 24 hours.
