Factory Letters

A factory letter is an offical report on the information contained in the original company records which the Historical Center holds. Letters are on official letterhead and bear the seal of the Cody Firearms Museum at the Buffalo Bill Historical Center. A factory letter can be an important tool in establishing the provenance and originality of a gun. Factory letters generally take three weeks to process.

Factory letter benefits start at the $250 giving circle or can be purchased separately in letter packages.

For more information on factory letters, see our Firearms Records page.

Serial Number Searches

A serial number search contains the same information as a factory letter and is sent via e-mail, fax, or by phone. Members are asked to limit search requests to five per day. Results are generally returned within 24 hours.

For more information on serial number searches, visit our Firearms Records page.

All of our giving circle members enjoy the following basic benefits:

  • Unlimited admission to the Center for one named adult
  • Invitations to special events
  • Express admission line at the main entrance
  • 10 percent discount in the Museum Store
  • Subscription to Points West quarterly magazine, including our calendar of events
  • Discounts on educational programs, events, and tours
  • Discounts on the Historical Center's reproduction prints
