Plains Indian Research

Committed to advancing knowledge about the American West, the Buffalo Bill Historical Center encourages scholarship and research related to its collections. Research in the Plains Indian Museum Collections is available for legitimate study by responsible parties, including scholars, museum professionals, graduate students, and members of the general public with specific research needs. Decisions concerning direct access to the collection will consider the project's potential contribution to the enrichment of knowledge, in balance with other commitments to public service and to preserving objects and their cultural integrity.

If you are interested in conducting research in one of our collections, you will be required to complete our Collections Use Agreement.

Arrangements for access to our collections must be approved by Emma Hansen, Senior Curator, Plains Indian Museum. A minimum of two weeks advance notice is required for access to the collections and/or collection information.
