June 28: Colorful Characters of the West Family Fun Day, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Come and meet some of the most interesting people of the West, old and new. Learn about the lives led by these westerners, from homesteaders to cavalrymen, and enjoy activities based on their experiences. Included in regular admission. More info.
June 29: Dutch oven workshop, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Please register in advance! Nothing tastes better than campfire cooking! So, dust off your Dutch ovens and learn how to create delicious food from our seasoned chuckwagon cook, Ron Reed. Participants will cook a meal over an open fire using Dutch ovens and charcoal. All food and supplies will be provided, but we encourage participants to use their own Dutch Ovens if they prefer. July 11: Draper Natural History Museum Lunchtime Expedition. Carlos Martinez del Rio with Biodiversity in Wyoming. 12:15 p.m., Coe Auditorium. Free.
July 12 – 14: Cody Firearms Records Office open for coverage on Winchester Arms Collectors Association Annual Show in Cody, Wyoming. The office will have a table at the show.
July 23 – 24: ‘Protecting Our Place’ Discovery Field Trip, for students entering 7th, 8th, or 9th grade in the fall. Wyoming’s pristine waters provide habitat for fish, insects, and numerous wildlife species. We will learn more about stream ecosystems and learn ways to keep them safe. $75 non-members; $70 members. July 27: National Day of the American Cowboy Family Fun Day, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Join us for an action packed day including music, presentations, and activities that celebrate cowboy heritage. Activities include stick-horse barrel racing, “calf-in-a-bale” roping, and various other rodeo games. More info.

With the beautiful landscapes as our backdrop, we will use art to explore the wilderness around us. August 8 – 10: Buffalo Bill Invitational Shootout.
August 16 – 18: Blacksmithing Demonstrations, 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. Watch a blacksmith at work out front of the Center. By the Northern Rockies Blacksmith Association. Free.
August 24: Cody Wild West River Fest. This community event is free to the public, and takes place at City Park and the Paul Stock Nature Trail. The Center is collaborating with many local organizations to help create event that will be fun for the whole family! Paddlers can show their stuff in the Stinking Water Sprint race and the Stinking Water Slalom kayak event. Anglers can compete for bragging rights and cool prizes in the “On the Fly” fishing tournament. And people of all ages can play games, eat food, try out a river sport, enjoy a bluegrass concert, and learn how healthy rivers and healthy communities go hand-in-hand.
