William Frederick "Buffalo Bill" Cody: His Life and Times

Events & Historical Timelines
Within the Life of Wm. F. "Buffalo Bill" Cody (1846-1917)

To place the life of William Frederick Cody in historical perspective, we have created several timelines that show significant events during the lifetime of Buffalo Bill (1846-1917). These timelines would be appropriate for 9-12th grade students:

Western History Essays

Written by Western historian Paul Fees, Senior Curator, Buffalo Bill Museum (1981-2001), this material would fit in nicely with studies of the American West, in reality and in drama. William Frederick Cody is a brief, but historically accurate, biography of "Buffalo Bill." Wild West Shows describes not only Buffalo Bill's Wild West but also other Wild West shows of that era. Annie Oakley is a sketch of the life of sharpshooter Annie Oakley, who joined Buffalo Bill's Wild West in 1885. These essays would be appropriate for 6th graders.
