Draper Museum of Natural History
GREATER YELLOWSTONE RAPTOR COLLECTIONS PROJECT INTERN
Overview: Introduces the student to birds of prey and curatorial techniques for documenting, preserving, and organizing natural history museum specimen collections for use by scientists and educators. The intern is based in the Draper Museum of Natural History, which focuses on the relationships between humans and nature in the Greater Yellowstone Area.
Level of Responsibility:
Reports to: Curator, Draper Museum of Natural History.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
· Identify and tag incoming specimens
· Preserve specimens using standard museum techniques
· Catalog and organize prepared specimens in permanent collection
· Occasionally answer questions and provide information to visitors in an informal setting
Additional Information:
· Training is provided
Qualifications:
·Enrollment in accredited college/university curriculum in any field of natural science, natural resource management, or interdisciplinary studies involving human relationships with nature
· Genuine desire to explore natural history museum work and to communicate science and natural history to the public
